chool\n\nGroup Phase Timings: 1pm-2:30pm\n\nFinal Phase Location: Charlton
Kings Junior School\n\nFinal Phase Timing: 3:15pm-4:30pm\n\nAge Group: Ye
ar 5 and 6\n\nDescription: English Schools’ Football Association competi
tion. 7-a-side\, no restriction on gender. Small and large schools will co
mpete separately. (Small schools must have fewer than 65 pupils in Year 5/
6). The winner of the small and large schools competitions will progress
to the County round (usually in late November/early December).\n\nRules:\n
\n Matches are to be seven –a-side\n Otherwise\, rules are the same as
in the league games e.g. no offside etc.\n Matches will last 7 minutes e
ach way. Please make a quick change round at half time – perhaps two min
utes.\n Substitutes can be made at any time – please inform the referee
.\n Please support all referee’s decisions (right or wrong!).\n 3 poin
ts for win\, 1 point for draw.\n Winners of each group to be decided (in
 this order) by:\n\n points accrued.\n goals scored.\n goal difference.\
n results against each other.\n penalty shootout. (5 penalties each)\n\n
\n\n \n\nThe winners will then represent Cheltenham in the County round o
 f the ESFA Inter-School competition\, details to be confirmed.\n\nThe no h
eading rule will be implemented. To ensure player welfare and mitigate ag
ainst potential health risks linked to heading the ball. A number of loc
al youth leagues have introduced this rule also.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nWhat is a d
eliberate header?\n\nA deliberate header / heading will usually involve a
player moving their head and / or body:\n\n Towards the ball and / or\n
Into the path of the ball When judging if a header is ‘deliberate’\, a
ccount should be taken of whether the player had the time / opportunity to
avoid the ball.\n\nThis will be influenced by:\n\n The speed of the ball
\n The distance between the ball and the player when it is played by anot
her player or rebounds from the goalpost or crossbar etc.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nLa
w Changes \n\nDeliberately heading the ball is an offence punishable by a
n indirect free-kick. The indirect free-kick is taken at the point where t
he ball was deliberately headed.\n\n Where a player of the defending team
deliberately heads the ball in their own penalty area\, the indirect free
-kick is taken from the penalty mark\n\nDeliberately heading the ball is n
ot a cautionable (yellow card) or sending off (red card) offence\, unless
it:\n\n Stops or interferes with a promising attack (yellow card) • Den
ies the opposing team a goal or obvious goal-scoring opportunity (red card
)\n Occurs often enough to be considered ‘persistent misconduct’ (yel
 low card)\n
