our AWARDS

Over the years, Move More has been fortunate to be nominated for a variety of awards locally, regionally and nationally for our work within schools, families and communities. These accolades recognise the importance of our work and enable us to further highlight the importance of active, healthy lifestyles and strive towards our vision of Every Child Thrives.

Look at some of our achievements so far!

2024: So Glos Gloucestershire Awards, Charity of the Year – Finalist

Following a thorough judging process we were delighted to be nominated as a finalist in the So Glos Gloucestershire Business Awards Charity of the Year category. Whilst we didn’t win the award it was extremely rewarding to be recognised for our work within schools, families and communities and demonstrating strong business acumen in a particularly competitive sector.

2024: Department for Education, Holiday Activities and Food Awards – Finalist

Move More were nominated by Gloucestershire County Council for the national HAF awards because of our commitment to developing effective partnerships, supporting local communities, meeting the needs of children and young people with SEND and our support for parents and carers.

2023: No Child Left Behind, #PhysicallyActive – Winner

The No Child Left Behind #PhysicallyActive Award was received for our collaboration with Heidi’s Heroes who we work with every year to provide disadvantaged children with the courage and opportunity to learn to swimming. Heidi’s Heroes raise the necessary funds whereas Move More, at no charge, manage all of the logical arrangements, this includes booking pool space and instructors, liaising with schools who want their children to take part in the intervention, arranging transport, timetabling lessons and much more.

In the 2021/22 academic year 102 children from 14 Cheltenham Primary Schools took part in the programme, which consisted of daily 30 minute swimming lessons throughout the week commencing 4 April. In total 30 fully funded 30 minute swimming lessons were delivered.

2022: No Child Left Behind, #BussinessForChange – Winner

This award celebrated local businesses that support children and young people and we were delighted to be recognised for our work in schools and increased presence within local communities. The award also recognised our commitment to partnership, particularly through the delivery of Holiday Activities and Food provision.

2022: School Games Impact Award – National Finalist

We used the excitement of the Commonwealth Games to support x80 children from two local primary schools to plan an event that would inspire them to engage with physical activity. Moving away from traditional sports the event consisted of a Bhangra warm up, tri-golf, orienteering, new age kurling, archery and a wellbeing session. Prior to the event children were put into teams and they had to choose a Commonwealth Country to represent and learn interesting facts about them.

The children who attended were ‘non-sporty’ and selected by their respective school with a view to increasing their activity levels and enjoy doing this. Upon conclusion of the event children were given a Commonwealth passport with ideas from around the world on how to be active.

2022: School Games Impact Award – National Finalist

We surveyed local secondary schools to identify cohorts of children who were disengaged with physical activity and identify approaches to address this. Schools identified children with SEND and at key transition points (years 7 and 8) as the most disengaged and suggested activities that could be replicated outside of school, encouraged teamwork and built confidence.

As result we hosted and outdoor activities day at Cranham Scout Hut which educated 50 children (from 5 local secondary schools) in attendance on how to be active in nature, work in teams to complete physical challenges and lead activities.

2021: No Child Left Behind, #PhysicallyActive – Winner

Move More accessed Holiday Activities and Food funding from Gloucestershire County Council to deliver FREE holiday camps in multiple venues across Cheltenham during the school summer holidays – 175 (includes multiple bookings) children and young people attended this provision, 90.5% of which were in receipt of Free School Meals. We were recognised for this award due to our innovative approach that involved engaging multiple partners to ensure children (and families) most in need were able to access the activities. Our partners included Rowanfield Junior School, Gardners Lane Primary School, Oakwood Primary School, Cheltenham Borough Homes, The Wiggly Worm, Feed Cheltenham and Springbank Community Group.

2021: No Child Left Behind, #StrongFamilies – Winner

This award recognised our commitment to building happy and resilient families which is achieved through our Family Services provision in local Primary Schools. During the 2020/21 academic year we worked with approximately 762 families through a variety of different means, including:
• 446 families registered for 10 webinars
• 92 families took part in Balanced eating challenges
• 15 families took part in coffee mornings
• 6 newsletters were shared with approximately 180 families
• 29 families received 1-1 support.

2020: No Child Left Behind, #PhysicallyActive – Winner

The NCLB #PhysicallyActive Award in 2020 was our first award since becoming a Charitable Incorporated Organisation in 2017 and recognised our Health and Wellbeing project for its commitment to raising awareness of the issue of child poverty in Cheltenham, working towards ‘closing the gap’ by making activities accessible and affordable and partnership working.
The project supported children and families from schools across Cheltenham in bespoke, low-ratio activities that aimed to increase health and wellbeing through helping families eat healthier, reduce levels of inactivity and engage in wider social activities.
