Description: Have you ever thought about when children become aware of the way their bodies look? Do you know what impact this awareness can have on their mental wellbeing? Many adults believe that body image awareness and its implications aren’t relevant before the teenage years. But research is very clear: children as young as 3 can have body image issues regardless of gender or ethnicity. The implications are potentially rather serious including impact on self-esteem, risk-taking behaviours, and disordered eating.
This is why our next webinar will be focusing on:
- Understanding body image and factors that can impact on how our children view their bodies.
- Exploring why body image matters and how it links with mental wellbeing.
- Identifying and discussing long and short-term strategies to put in place to counterbalance the impact of negative body image and diet culture.
Led by Marijana Filipovic-Carter, Move-More’s Head of Family support, this webinar will provide insights and actionable tips for parents and caregivers
