Who: The day is for current year six pupils who are anxious about moving on to secondary school in September.

Team size: 5 children

What: This is a new School Games event which is being co-designed by year six pupils, School Games Organisers, the Healthy schools team (GHLL) and Active Gloucestershire. Young people will have the opportunity to take part in different activities that aim to build their confidence and coping skills, including; yoga, natural mindfulness and teamwork. We aim to embed practical skills relevant to transition such as how to start a conversation and map reading to navigate school sites.

Why: We know that times of change can be challenging, we want to build the confidence and skills of young people so that they can transition well and have the best start in their new environment. The Gloucestershire School Games programme is trialling new ways of engaging young people that experience inequalities in physical activity opportunities, we want to provide the children and young people that need it most with a positive experience of physical activity and use it as a tool to improve their physical and mental health.

Further details: Free to attend, own transport to be organised, please bring your own lunch

This is county event so schools from other Gloucestershire districts will be present also.
